History

Founded in 1939, the American Society of Bogota has created a lasting impact within the fabric of Colombia. Initially, our organization was a platform to introduce US Citizens residing in Bogota with influencers in Colombia. After successfully creating a strong network of members and sponsors, the American Society took the initiative to reach out to the community and make a difference in the educational future of local children.

Mission

The American Society of Bogota is a non-for-profit organization that unites Americans and Colombians focused on creating relationships and helping the community in which they live. The organization's mission is to promote goodwill, understanding and community spirity among Colombians and US citizens residing in Colombia.

Scholarships

Our members, sponsors and private supporters help contribute to the American Society’s promise to promote education in Colombia and provide full scholarships to children in need. Relieving impoverished parents of the financial responsibility of paying for their child’s private education allows for greater economic freedom to meet other basic needs. Our sponsored children can focus on their education and develop the skills needed to succeed in life.We are committed to accompanying a sponsored child throughout their educational development, from kindergarten through high school. Should you want to help us, please consider a donation.

Since the programs inception in 1972, we have raised more than a million dollars in scholarships for Colombian children and have successfully graduated hundreds of students. Our graduates have gone on to college and technical schools and have become productive and contributing members of society.
